PrepConnect 2014

Have you been considering a Toronto private school education for your child – maybe even one of the most prestigious private schools like Havergal College, Bayview Glen, UTS or Bishop Strachan – but aren’t sure where to get straight answers? For example, will an admissions officer or student recruiter really be honest about the difference between their school and other private schools in the city – or between their school and a public school education, for that matter? What are these competitive schools really looking for? And does private school really give kids an edge when it comes to applying for University?

What if you could get candid answers to these and many other questions, from not one but many admissions officers, student ambassadors and parents, in a relaxed and informative setting designed to give you the inside scoop on Toronto’s most elite private schools?

On September 13, 2014, over two dozen of the most prominent private schools in North America will be represented at PrepConnect, a must-attend private school admissions networking event held by PrepSkills. At this dynamic event, a panel will speak on the Top 10 questions parents have about private school. The panel is comprised of influential representatives from the cream of the crop of Toronto private schools – all of whom work closely with PrepSkills and admit PrepSkills students to their prestigious educational institutions every year.

This year, participating schools include:

Branksome Hall – Founded in 1903, this International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offers girls a strong liberal arts curriculum with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Crescent School – A 100+ year old boys’ school where students are taught that respect–of oneself, one's peers, teachers, family, community, and the environment – is at the heart of everything. Mission statement: Men of Character from Boys of Promise.
De La Salle College – Since its beginnings in 1851 Toronto, its aims have been to educate youth in a truly Christian atmosphere and to develop a sense of proper moral and religious values through academic courses, athletic programs, extra curricular activities, liturgical functions and social events.
Upper Canada College – Founded in 1829, it is one of North America’s foremost boys’ schools, offering boarding for selected students from outside of Toronto. Graduates of UCC - an International Baccalaureate World School - are highly regarded by top universities and post-secondary institutions worldwide.
Rosedale Day School – A small co-educational independent private school from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 that offers extremely small class sizes and rigorous academic and co-curricular programs that ensure each student is challenged to reach his or her potential.
UTS – A university preparatory school, grades 7 through 12, affiliated with the University of Toronto. Located on U of T's St. George Campus, UTS offers high-achieving students a specialized curriculum and a unique co-educational learning environment that encourages creative interests and physical activity as well as a sense of social responsibility.
