Virtual Event: Hockey Recruiting 101

More than ever, college coaches are at home and focusing on digital recruiting, communicating via emails, texts and DMs while evaluating athletes with recruiting videos and online recruiting profiles. But do you know how to take advantage of this situation?

To help keep your recruiting moving forward, Next College Student Athlete (NCSA) Senior Recruiting Coach and former Norwich University hockey player Alec Thieda is offering a FREE virtual recruiting workshop for athletes and families on

Wednesday, December 9th, 7:00 pm CST/8:00pm EST.

Topic: Prepskills + NCSA Ice Hockey Recruiting 101

Hockey recruiting has changed a lot in 2020. As the official recruiting partner of PrepSkills, NCSA can help you learn how the recruiting process is currently being impacted. You’ll learn about:

  • The different routes for a prospective student-athlete (NCAA & ACHA)
  • The ins and outs of NCAA hockey
  • Athletic scholarships
  • Maximizing your online presence

For those new to NCSA, we will also help with setting up an NCSA Recruiting Profile that helps athletes connect with college hockey coaches. Make sure to save your spot today while there’s still availability!

Alec Thieda
NCSA's Ice Hockey Recruiting Coach

I played three years of junior hockey (NAHL and CCHL) before I was presented an opportunity to play for Norwich University, an NCAA Division III school in Northfield, Vermont. There I became a four-year student-athlete, a captain my senior year, an AHCA 2nd Team All-American, and a Joe Concannon award finalist (best American-born player in New England). After my time playing at Norwich, I was asked to become a part of the coaching staff. I was an assistant coach specializing in player development and breaking down game and opponent scouting video. I was the bench coach leading the game-day operations. To top off my coaching career thus far, I helped lead Norwich to a 2017 NCAA Division III National Championship. Academically, I received an MBA with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and B.S. in Management with a Concentration in Information Technology and Financial Economics from Norwich University.
